About SomniLight

Picture
SomniLight was founded by Jordan and Kelly Burr in 2014. After years of chronic insomnia, Jordan discovered the importance of light exposure on circadian sleep disorders, eventually finding that the frequency (color) and timing of light exposure was the most important factor in developing healthy sleep patterns. As innumerable studies have demonstrated, exposure to blue light in the evening can exacerbate any number of health and sleep conditions. In accordance with the latest research, we developed a series of amber lamps and amber book lights using native amber LEDs, which produce the lowest blue light emissions of any commercially available lighting source. Jordan’s story of finally overcoming insomnia with amber light can be found here.

Since then, the SomniLight team has paired the latest scientific and medical research with world-class optical designers to create powerful, effective blue-blocking glasses for the prevention of shift work sleep disorder, delayed sleep phase syndrome, and photophobic migraines. Read our research report on the hazards of blue light in the evening here and our examination of the research behind migraine glasses here.
